What We Believe

Life is exciting. Life can be more than we ever thought possible. It doesn't mean that we don't have problems, but we are a group of people that choose to reimagine life.

What does that look like? Reimagining life calls us to stop reacting to everything that is going on around us. Instead, we choose to respond to God's great love. This shapes how we reimagine life in five core ways:

Respond | Worship

When we live in response to God’s love, we celebrate who God is and remember all He has done, all He is doing, and all He will do. This causes us to live lives of daily celebration, not just on Sundays.

“As we express gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”

--President John F. Kennedy

"I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness."

--Isaiah 61:10

Reveal the Light | Evangelism | Share

When we live in response to God's love, there is a natural outpouring into the lives of those around us. Finding someone as amazing as the Creator of the universe isn't something that we can keep quiet about. We cannot help but share our faith that is being restored and realigned with God's.

"To love another person is to see the face of God."

--Victor Hugo (Les Miserables)

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself,

no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us

this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s

ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us.

We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

--2 Corinthians 5: 19-20

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

--Matthew 5:14-16

Restoring Brokenness | Serve

When we live in response to God's love, caring for others is a natural byproduct. In a world of brokenness, we are being made new, made whole. This motivates us to seek out ways to restore brokenness around us, whether it is in our community, in the city of Houston, or in our world. We choose to reimagine life through the lens of wholeness.

We have to humble ourselves and the way you do that is by serving other people.

--Tim Tebow

“Prayer in action is love, and love in action is service. Try to give unconditionally whatever a person needs in the moment. The point is to do something,

however small, and show you care through your actions by giving your time … We are all God’s children so it is important to share His gifts. Do not worry about why problems exist in the world – just respond to people’s needs … We feel what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but that ocean

would be less without that drop.“

--Mother Teresa

"One of the principal rules of religion is, to lose no occasion of serving God. And, since he is invisible to our eyes, we are to serve him in our neighbour; which he receives as if done to himself in person, standing visibly before us."

--John Wesley

"They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations."

--Isaiah 61:4

Rebuilding Community | Belong

When we live in response to God’s love, we can take off the masks and be our true selves around others and begin to connect to others that are fully embracing God’s call in their lives.

“Define yourself radically as one beloved by God. This is the true self. Every other identity is illusion.”

--Brennan Manning, Abba's Child: The Cry of the

Heart for Intimate Belonging

"We weren't meant to be somebody -- we were meant to know Somebody."

--John Piper

"So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view.  At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view.  How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him."

--1 Corinthians 5:16-18

Realigning Life | Discipleship

When we live in response to God's love, we want to be more and more like Jesus. We all come from different backgrounds and different environments. It's easy to feel like chaos is all around us. But we are called to live in the rhythm of God's grace. The goal is for every person, regardless of where they are in life, should be to move closer to our loving God. We want to orchestrate our lives to be in harmony with Jesus.

“Grace means that all of your mistakes now serve a purpose instead of serving shame.”

--Barbara Niven

"In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory."

--Isaiah 61:3b

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

--Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)
